New Side Garden Project: Clean Up, Pruning, & Planting Perennials & Annuals 🌷🌷🌷
Pruning is hard but so important to your garden evolving and continue through the rest of the season. Everything was looking beautiful, but I know the pruning is going to give everything a boost. Can not wait to see what new plants you put in.
Lantana grows wild in our hili g trails … that’s probably why it’s invasive. Here in Hawaii
Store your hose in an unused flower pot.😊
Geez Amanda..I'm all worn out from watching you today, LOL
😂😂😂
I'll be interested in whether the lantana is the type that doesn't pop up everywhere. I've been warned about that. However I've also heard the newer hybrids? don't do that. See what you find out as I really want to plant a perennial lantana.
I’ve not experienced that, but I’ll do some research!
I love cut back time! It's cathartic! Have you looked into Morbloom for a fertilizer? No smell 😊
I'll check it out!
quick connects are great. They're not that expensive but you do have to put them on anything you’ll be connecting to your hose. I think enough people on here have convinced me to "not" use fish emulsion. I use a concentrated liquid product from Microlife called Ocean Harvest. It's produced here locally in the Houston area but you might be able to find it in your area, typicallt at independent nurseries. Great product
I definitely need to look into the quick connects! That’s awesome that you have a local product for fertilizer … even better for your garden!
I love pansies and violas but by this time of year I'm ready to pull them out until next November. Your garden looks great after the prune.
I was ready for a change too!
My Bubblegum and Jazzberry Supertunias from last year are blooming again for me! I thought they were goners and cleaned out their flowerpots. I planted a oeony in one pot and left the other prepped for something new for just over 2 months while I recovered from my broken ankles. I found three petunia plants growing, once I was able to get back outside, between the two pots. I transplanted the one growing with the new oeony into the other pot and they’re now blooming! I’m waiting to see if they do as well as last springs did. They definitely got a late start, but they are very healthy looking and loaded with buds and flowers opening. 😊
OMG! That is awesome!!! What a fun surprise!
Ŵe have done hose management 3 ways. 1)on ground gets into knots,2)wall hanger heavy to lift 3) box w/ winder I like this the best, feels good to make a widening hose go away neat and tidy zip
I have a reel in the back yard that winds up my hose so I should probably look for one for the front yard as well.
❤
🌷🌷🌷
Dont have any good solutions for storing your hose cause I haven't figured one out, but a quick release for the spray would help you alot
Definitely need to look into the quick connects!
Grow the fatura from seed. It blooms the first year. Stunning. You'll luv it. Big impact!
Very cool!
I will also cut my daffodils and tulips (only got foliage, no flower 😔).
Darn! If the daffodils have been in the ground for many years, consider dividing them!
Super Good program ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ very Beautiful Flowers Garden it's Amazing ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great video 😊😊..what is the name of that pink flowering tree in that black container on your porch? It is beautiful 😍 here in Orlando I am already having to replace my pansies and violas.. I also love Lantana and there are so many colors to choose from..keep making videos and I will keep watching 😊😊
It’s a Thai Delight Bougainvillea
❤
🌷
Hi. Does Lowe have online store or worldwide like ebay?
Not that I know of
@@shesamadgardener thank you
Super Good program ❤❤❤❤❤ very Beautiful Flowers Garden it's Amazing ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
🌷
I have a hoselink, but $$$! I just got two wrought iron large hooks for smaller hoses in my garden. But I think I agree with the previous comment that a hose pot would work great for you
Yeah they are a little spendy for me, but a hook is a great idea!
I love the fish fertilizer. I think it smells like stinky feet. I love the results so bring it on. I haven’t sprayed it with a hose end sprayer. I am going to try that.
Stinky but effective!
I store my hose in an empty pot. It works great! ❤ I will have to try spraying fish fertilizer like that! I have a Miracle Gro spray just like that.
I’m nervous that a snake might start living in the pot 😂
I got me some quick connectors
I need to check those out!
Spraying the fish fertilizer, never thought about that. Thanks!
Any time!
Hi Amanda I just love a good hard prun and cleanup!Im working on my rose's 12 this yr because I propagated 3 .I just did all my patunias.Lookung forward to the lantana, I got some purple trailing because I dida all purple new garden bed and their different in texture and blooms I'm not sure yet if im sold.I use them for border too and I say to folks if you want a beautiful impact and easy care get lantana! Everything looks good you still have lots of color and texture!I have my hose in a pot I keep my nozzle draped over because of spiders 🤣my compost bin is tucked in a back corner and I just put up a old trellis panel my neighbor was tossing in front of it and made a small garden bed of cut flowers.
Great job. Fun work.
Good morning. I have to agree with you when it comes to pruning. I to love pruning so seeing how much you do makes me feel much better. Your garden does look much better now with all the pulling and pruning. Looking forward to seeing the Lantana that you will be planting. All the new colour will add another boost of freshness. Enjoy what you did today and have a wonderful day.
Very satisfying 🌹🌹
Agreed!
I was hoping you would show us what does spider mite look like.
I’ll try to get some footage … they are so small that it’s is incredibly hard to be able to film them.
So what would you do different in your garden for the next garden tour?
Florida is much like Texas, only wetter, longer. I am just about ready to go out and pull my pretty little zinnias. I am going to try succession planting them. But I like you I like chopping things back. Good idea on the fish emulsion. I had not tried that yet. I really do enjoy your videos. I’m 65, but you can always learn new things.
Have you looked into getting some sort of Hoselink?
I have but I’m not interested in its cost.
@@shesamadgardener oh rats. I haven’t priced them
Your violas and Pansies lasted sooooo long....thats amazing for your zone !!!
I think so too!
Can't wait I lov3 Lantanas. I have them growing . Never thought to grow them as boards. Will be trying this. Thanks!
Have fun!
Check into "quick connect" connectors for your hose. It allows you to switch between wands or nozzles much easier. I have them on all my hoses and all my nozzles/wands. Thanks for the lesson on using the Miracle Gro fertilizer container. I never knew how to use it without the granular bags. I had violas in my railing containers and now I see all kinds of violas coming up in the garden that was below. We'll see how long they last. I'm with you on composting.
Ok wait…where did you find violas in the fall? From seed? I’ll admit I’m not flower shopping in October so i have no idea 😂 (and mostly shop at calloways) 🤪
👒👒👒
Beautiful garden I garden for butterflies in ft Lauderdale FL.
I can't bring myself to prune that harsh, but I know it would help out. You are brave lol. As far as the "weed" goes, it looks a lot like a cosmo. I say let it grow a little longer and see :D
I saw someone dig a hole, put in a garden pot and coil their hose inside. I would worry about snakes but you may not have that problem. 🙃.
I love chopping everything back. We have had a cool spring here (Atlanta area) so not close to doing all the pruning yet. It is coming though!!!
Wow. I was feeling a little sad because I’m not able to plant this year like I have in the past. But I’m thinking I’m good. 😂 I agree with your statement on Fish Emulsion. 😂 another thing I find with it is it brings the Fly’s in. 🥴 which I’m already having a irritating experience with. 😩
Foxgloves, nearly all of mine are biannual plants however I leave the stems on the plants for the seed pods to go brown and hard. This is when the seeds are mature, I don’t ever cut the stems when the pods are green. That’s what I’ve always been taught, so I’m wondering if your seeds are not mature enough 🤷♀️ it’s just a thought. Maybe you could do a little experiment in your back garden, it’s late now because you’ve already been cleaning your front/side garden.
Looks great!! I love doing a hard pruning and every time my friends and hubby thinks I'm crazy lol!!
That's lot of cleaning! What are the flowering perennial plants do you recommend that can survive our heat? Thanks Amanda 😊
I just did a video on some! ua-cam.com/video/4UnbwB-2Uj4/v-deo.htmlsi=Gsb-03W2mOS6CuqX
I put my garden hose in a ceramic planter in the front in a color that goes along with my garden theme with a shepherd hook & flower in back of it almost like it’s planted in it and the back I use a reel. ❤
Oh that sounds beautiful!
I love Zinnias too! In my Zone 5b/6a area, I have the best luck starting them inside. They do really well, but Japanese Beetles can do a number on them. Picking the buggers off and dumping them in soapy water is not fun, but is the way I’ve found to try and keep the numbers down. 😊
Oh wow! I haven’t dealt with Japanese beetles in my zinnias … knock on wood!
Wow, that's a lot of work!! ⚾️
Yes it was!
Ok, what do you use for fire ants? There is no way I would sit on the ground here just north of Houston. And I can't forget the spiders. I use a garden stool or bench.
I don’t deal with fire ants thankfully!
My glads keep coming back in my 6b garden.
Yay!
